How emails are categorised in the Promotions Tab ? #

Below points will help us understand the functioning of promotions folder:

> The “Promotions” folder is just a subsidiary of the inbox and has its own set of rules which differ from that of the Spam folder.

> Email landing in the “Promotions” folder is not considered as spam.  The emails landing in the promotional or update folders of the Email account are not governed by LeadSquared Email Services. However, that is governed by the email clients such as in GMAIL. Also, you can refer to the article given below for the categorization of the Inbox into different sub-folders:
  1. https://cloudblog.withgoogle.com/products/gmail/how-gmail-sorts-your-email-based-on-your-preferences/amp/

> The folders which are categorized are sub-folders of Inbox., which means that the emails land in any of the folders viz. Priority, Update, Promotions, Social, etc are landing in Inbox.  Also, as tested by you the emails are not landing in SPAM/JUNK.

> If someone, wants the email from a specific Email ID, to the primary folder, then he/she needs to drag the email to the priority folder, on which there’ll be a pop-up asking for future emails from that email ID to land into the primary inbox only.

>The email categorization is done by Gmail itself based on its algorithms which run at their end. The same is mentioned in the above article. This depends on multiple factors, some are mentioned below:

Primary Tab: People consider this tab as their main inbox. All emails from your contacts and other non-classified email goes here.

Social Tab: This tab houses all the emails and notifications from social media websites.

Promotions Tab: All the automated marketing emails and newsletters with heavy HTML land in this tab.

Updates Tab: All notifications related to confirmations, bills, bank statements etc. make their way to this tab.

Forums Tab: Includes emails from online discussion boards and communities.

To prevent emails from landing in Promotional tabs we can suggest the customer to personalise the content and use minimal images to keep the email simple.
