– If the user is tech-savvy and comfortable with HTML Web Development, they would try configuring the button in HTML format and retrieve the the personalized lead link using a mail merge value in the HTML Code. This often leads to the below highlighted error:
– Moreover, the highlighted error occurs more frequently for Mac Users than windows.

Workaround/Hidden-feature:

We can suggest a direct workaround to satisfy the requirement of having the “Website link” to be mail merged onto the Button used in the email content. The screenshots provided below is from a test account and is only for indicative purpose. We request that you relate the information provided with your account data for implementation.
1. Kindly ensure that the lead field in which the link is present is of “Website type” in the “Lead Fields” section.

2. Open the email template to be configured and click on the action button to access the content properties section on the right.

3. Paste the “Website link” lead field mail merge tag as shown below in the section highlighted in the screenshot above.
Mail merge tag – @{Lead:<leadfieldname>,}
Kindly ensure to replace the placeholder “<leadfieldname>” tag with the exact lead field name in your account
