Billing cycles of converse and whatsapp

1 min read

Overview: This article explains the differences between the billing methods used by Converse and WhatsApp, as well as how they impact the triggering of API requests and message sending behavior.

Converse Billing Method:

  • Converse has a flexible billing system with a daily limit on the number of API requests/messages.
  • If the daily limit is reached, our system will restrict sending further requests to the provider’s API until the limit is reset.
  • Converse allows the daily limit to be extended by an additional 10% once the limit is reached.
  • Important: Once the billing extension is applied and the limit is increased, all queued messages will be sent to the provider’s API. Our system will resume triggering the API requests and sending messages from our end.

WhatsApp Billing Method:

  • WhatsApp operates with a fixed daily message limit.
  • Once the daily limit is reached, no further messages will be sent, and no additional API requests will be triggered from our side.
  • Unlike Converse, WhatsApp does not allow for an extension beyond the fixed limit. Any queued messages will remain unsent until the limit resets.

Key Differences:

  • Converse: Allows for a 10% limit extension and processes all queued messages once the extension is granted.
  • WhatsApp: Has a fixed message limit, and once it’s reached, no further messages are sent, even if there are queued messages.

Conclusion: It is important to understand these differences when managing message sending for Converse and WhatsApp. Converse offers more flexibility by allowing a daily limit extension, while WhatsApp has a stricter, non-extensible limit.
