Issue #
While attempting to merge two leads, the system displays the error:
“Leads cannot be merged as child lead/s are referenced in one or more activities of lead type field.”
RCA: #
On reviewing the lead activities, it was identified that one of the activities on the lead contains a Custom Field Set (CFS) field of Lead Data Type (e.g., Lead Link).
Using Advanced Search, two leads were retrieved where the parent (merging) lead was referenced in this Lead-type field.
Since the lead being merged is actively referenced by other leads activities, the merge operation is blocked to preserve data integrity.
Corrective Action: #

Edit the impacted activity on the identified leads and remove or update the Lead Data Type field so it no longer references the parent lead.

If the activity is not required, delete the activity to clear the dependency.

Once the reference is removed, retry merging the leads.
